Fun things in Lock Haven

Overview

Our short visit to this little winery was actually completely on impulse and int he spur of the moment. We had no intention of picking up wine that evening - but after the hike around Zindel Park, we figured it couldn't hurt to have a glass and unwind at home. Check out the following to hear what we thought about the place, the staff, and the wine! Fun things in Lock Haven

Where is it?

Address: 67 Reservoir Rd, McElhattan, PA 17748

To help out future customers, the winery is the door on the North side of the building (see below).

The Good

I think that there are few very notable positive features of this winery. Firstly, the atmosphere of and decor inside are very nice. Super relax and laid back - a good place for a small group of 4 - 5 friends to go out and visit at.

Another notable mention would be the staff. The young lady who was in the front of the winery was incredibly patient, kind, and helpful! Given that we had spontaneously visited their winery - we were going into it with little to no idea of what we wanted. She offered us a menu of what they had. After giving her a brief description of wines that we enjoy, she provided us with her suggestions. Ultimately, we would go with the Riesling, one of her suggestions!

The wine was very good and matched the exact description of what she had said. We were both very happy with the purchase!

The Bad

The first thing to note is it wasn't quite obvious which of the doors is the winery from the road. We actually didn't know before getting out of our car and walking up to each of the doors. It might be beneficial to put up a sign that attracts the common traffic from the hiking trail right next to the business.

Moreover, this might not be suited for duos - that is, if there are only 3 or 4 people in the bar - and you go in with your partner, it might be a bit awkward at first. When we first walked through the door - the room immediately became quiet and it felt as though everyone was had their eyes on us. It would be a good idea to maybe bring a small friend group if you are more on the socially awkward side - like us!

Conclusion

If you were like us and you are questioning whether you want to go or not - we would suggest going. Though it was awkward at first, the staff made us feel at home and in good hands with finding the right choice of wine, given that we were both amateur wine enthusiasts.
